Esther returned to Wellington from Christchurch in 2015, completeing a career transition from Emergency Management to Business Continuity Management. Her responsibilities span the implementation of the BCM Lifecycle within the NZ Inland Revenue Department.
Most recently she supported Inland Revenue’s response to four simultaneous denial of access events following the Kaikoura earthquake of 2016. Esther was the Recovery Manager's Advisor throughout the response and the majority of the recovery phase.
Esther was a member of the Emergency Operations Centre following the Christchurch earthquakes in 2010 and 2011, and became involved in building evaluation project management activity. Her report on lessons learnt as a result of this work was included and published in the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Building Failure Caused by Christchurch Earthquakes.
She is a Member of the Business Continuity Institute, and is currently serving as Vice President of the Government Sector Business Continuity Coordination Group.
She holds a BA (Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington and an MSc from Norwich University, Vermont.
